Tickets are on sale now for the School of the Art Institute’s Gene Siskel Film Center’s fundraiser, “An Adventure with George Lucas” at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago on June 13 from 6-10pm.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Gene Siskel’s Film Center Visionary Award to Lucas by SAIC President William Reiter. There will also be a discussion with Lucas led by Jon Favreau, as well as clips from Lucas’ films. A raffle drawing will include prizes such as Lucas film memorabilia, a Continental Airlines package, and a personalized Obama tour of Chicago. Suggested attire for the event is “cocktail glam”.

This rhinestone-encrusted chiffon and net leotard is one of the many personal items of Marilyn Monroe’s that will be up for auction on June 26. Supposedly, Marilyn was going to wear this costume in the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” before censors deemed the outfit inappropriate.
This fox fur stole with silk lining that Marilyn often wore on nights out will also be up for grabs.
This umbrella was used in 1949 photo shoot with Monroe.
Items will go up for auction June 26th through Julien’s Auctions. All items will be on display before the auction at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

“World’s Greatest Athlete” Jim Thorpe was born in 1887!
Thorpe played professional football, major and minor league baseball and ran track and field for the United States Olympic team. He made it into the College Football Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, played on several baseball teams, and was an Olympic pentathalon and decathalon champion. In 1950, the nation’s press named him the most outstanding athlete of the 20th century. He died in 1953.
